ARRI SXT & Codec
« on: January 03, 2017, 01:09:05 PM »
Hi all, I'm looking at a solution for a gig I have coming up where the prod has asked for a choice between a.n.other manufacturer and ARRI SXT for a 4K shoot involving 16 cameras.

I have very limited time post shoot as the venue kicks out around 4am and I doubt I can get the backup/checksums done in time for all cameras, so I'm not convinced using SXT is viable given;

to capture 4k 4444 12 bit requires the SXR drives that only Codec workflows (and hence their expensive software/hardware) can handle

I'm angling towards advising NOT using ARRI for a v tight turnaround - thoughts?

Assuming I need enough media to capture maybe 3 hours of constant footage, I'd suggest "rock and a hard place"? Am I wrong?

UK based. Thanks in advance for advice.
